Flags to be lowered June 22 in memory of slain Army soldier

Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that all Washington state and United States flags at all Washington state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Friday, June 22, in memory of U. S. Army First Lieutenant Mathew G. Fazzari, 25, of Walla Walla. Fazzari died June 6 in Afghanistan when his helicopter crashed after receiving enemy fire.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Friday, June 22.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

A service for Lt. Fazzari is scheduled at 11 a.m. on June 22 at Assumption Catholic Church in Walla Walla.
