Flags to be lowered Jan. 10 in honor of slain park ranger

Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed flags at all Washington state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, Jan. 10, in memory of Ranger Margaret Anderson, who died in the line of duty Jan. 1 at Mt. Rainier National Park.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday or first thing Wednesday morning, Jan. 11.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

A public memorial service for Anderson has been set for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.
