Flags to be lowered Aug. 3 in memory of DNR diver

Gov. Chris Gregoire, in memory of Washington State Department of Natural Resources diver DavidScheinost, who died July 24 while diving in the waters near Bainbridge Island to sample for paralytic shellfish poisoning, has directed that all Washington state and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Aug. 3.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Friday. Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

A funeral ceremony for Scheinost will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Auburn Adventist Academy Church at 5010 Auburn Way S. in Auburn.
