WWU Design students Coral Saville and Mercedes Schrenkeisen win Silver at the Seattle American Advertising Awards

Two students in Western Washington University’s Department of Design, Coral Saville and Mercedes Schrenkeisen, have each won a Student Silver Addy award at the American Advertising Awards in Seattle in the category "Elements of Advertising, Animation or Special Effects."

Saville won a Silver Addy for her project "Supernatural," a recreation of the title sequence for the popular TV show.

Schrenkeisen won a Silver Addy for her project "ParaNorman," a recreation of the title sequence for the popular film. Each students’ work was showcased in the Seattle Addy awards show and will be featured in the yearly awards book.

Both projects were created in Professor Austin Shaw’s Digital Media Design III class where BFA Design students focus on creative problem-solving for advanced motion design projects. The creative brief tasked students with concept and design development as well as animation production for entertainment brand packaging. Both Saville and Schrenkeisen utilized effective design techniques to produce compelling visual stories in their respective projects.
