Western Way: Christine Youtsey

Christine Youtsey, Office Assistant for the Department of Mathematics, if the recipient of this week's Western Way recognition.

Associate Professor Millie Johnson of the Department of Mathematics, who nominated Youtsey, values Youtsey's dedication to those she helps serve:

"Christine Youtsey is the first person people meet when they enter the Department of Mathematics and we are so lucky to have her," Johnson said." She handles the entering freshmen, transfer students, parents and actually everyone with such respect and caring grace. She listens, asks questions, and is excellent at directing them to the proper resources or faculty members. She goes out of her way to help faculty with advising, Summerstart, and Department events, even after hours. Christine is deserving of recognition and we are lucky as a department to work with her."

Do you work with outstanding colleagues at Western Washington University? Nominate them for special honors in the Western Way recognition program, which aims to recognize Western employees for their hard work on campus and to give their co-workers an opportunity to praise their efforts.

Any time throughout the year, folks in the WWU community can visit the Western Way website to recognize a Western employee who demonstrates excellence in serving students, visitors or colleagues, based on the characteristics that make them uniquely Western: inviting, engaging, distinctive, collaborative and adventurous.

Western Way honorees are recognized online on the Western Way Wall of Acknowledgment, in the Western Today newsletter and in a slideshow at the Employee Recognition Ceremony in April.
