Western to Host ‘Cracked, Not Broken’ Author Kevin Hines Nov. 16

Western Washington University will host speaker, author and mental health advocate Kevin Hines for his presentation “Cracked, Not Broken” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16 in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room.

The event is free and open to the public.

Hines is the author of “Cracked, Not Broken: The Kevin Hines Story” which tells his story of surviving his suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge, and how he has since learned to live mentally healthy.

In conjunction with his visit, Western’s BRAVE suicide prevention program will host ‘The Walk of Hope’ at 7 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 19 in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room.

The event aims to create a space where community members can discuss and break down stigmas surrounding depression and suicide. Student and faculty speakers will also share how suicide has personally affected their lives.
