Western’s Center for International Studies Announces Fall Reel World Film Series

Western’s Center for International Studies has released its line-up of globally-focused films for fall quarter.

This monthly film series is free and open to the public.

Faculty and student organizations are encouraged to suggest films that can supplement a course, an event or a discussion that raises awareness about other cultures, global issues, or viewing the world from different perspectives.

Director Sydney Freeland looks beyond stereotypes of Native American communities in her compelling debut film, which premiered at Sundance in 2014.

The Sea Inside / Mar adentro

Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in VU 552

This Academy Award-winning film tackles the controversial topic of euthanasia through the true story of Ramon Sampedro, a Spanish fisherman who spent 29 years fighting for the right to end his life after being paralyzed in a diving accident.

Decommissioning nuclear power plants: mission impossible?
