The Female Fiends to play noon concert July 15

Next up on the list to perform at the 2015 Summer Noon Concert Series is local "cuddle rock" band from Kent, The Female Fiends.

Western student Christian Olson, 21, on guitar; Michael Yin, 22, songwriter and on guitar and vocals, Ryan Davis, 22, on drums and Ricky Davis, 20, on bass joined together to start a band in 2012.

Yin, Olson and the Davis brothers all graduated from Kent Lake High School in Kent, and have been close friends since.

Attendees can expect to hear one of the band’s oldest top hit songs, “1992,” which will be performed that afternoon.

“'1992' is generally well received and since the show on campus will be a long one, we will probably play all of our latest EP’s and play some new songs,” Olson said.

All of the songs performed by The Female Fiends are originals.

Most recently, The Female Fiends were the winners of the Sounds of the Underground contest at the Underground Coffee House on WWU’s campus, and won a spot to perform at Western Washington University's Lawnstock 2015 Event in June.

“It was fun, because we’ve never done anything like that,” Olson said. “We pretty much just rough it in Seattle and Bellingham, occasionally we make it to Portland and some random stuff in between.”

The Summer Noon Concerts are set to continue to take place throughout July at noon on Wednesdays on the PAC Plaza.

Admission to this casual concert series is free and is sponsored by the AS Summer Program. The remaining concerts are Carmona Flamenco on July 22 and Gallowglass on July 29.
