Students to present ideas for State Street March 14

Students from Western Washington University’s Huxley College of the Environment Senior Planning Studio will be presenting their recommendations for the redevelopment of Bellingham’s State Street at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 in the Federal Courthouse Building on Cornwall Avenue and Magnolia Street on the second floor.

This presentation is free and open to the public.

Students, through the Urban Transitions Studio program, will emphasize new urbanism and sustainable development planning principles to help revive the State Street corridor, consisting of a 10-block area in Downtown Bellingham. The goal of the UTS program is to apply student learning in examining ways for Bellingham to achieve its urban development goals in a sustainable manner. Partners of the program include City of Bellingham Planning and Public Works Departments, Futurewise, Whatcom Transportation Authority, and Sustainable Connections.
