Product Designers Sallyann Corn and Joe Kent to Speak at WWU Nov. 4

Western Washington University’s Department of Design will present a talk with designers Sallyann Corn and Joe Kent at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Fraser Hall room 4.

The talk is free and open to the public.

In 2008, Corn and Kent opened the firm, Fruitsuper. Partners in business and life, their collaboration is a balance of their vastly different skill sets: “she is the why, he is the how.”

They met at the Art Institute of Seattle in 2002 and continued their studies in 2006 at the Pratt Institute, known as an incubator for entrepreneurs. A summer spent immersed in the study of furniture and architecture in the design-centric city of Copenhagen helped to solidify their philosophy of truth and functionalism, merged with an obsession with form and process.

In 2011, Fruitsuper began production on its own line of products, designing objects that are fun and made well from honest materials.
