New map offers interactive look at campus

Western Washington University's new interactive campus map, created by students working with Huxley College’s Institute for Spatial Information and Analysis, is now online.

Originally released in a "beta" version this fall, the map recently has been revised and updated. Among the recent enhancements are drop down menus to locate each of the buildings, departments and services on campus as well as a construction projects layer and building links to individual web pages for the different buildings on campus.

The WWU Campus Map includes spatial data layers for:

  • WWU buildings
  • Emergency phones
  • Accessibility features (parking, entrances, walkways, rest rooms)
  • ATUS computer labs
  • Parking (bicycle and car)
  • Bus stops
  • On-campus dining
  • The outdoor sculpture tour
  • Current construction projects on campus

Western departments, services and events on campus are encouraged to make use of the map and building pages in their web sites and promotional materials. The Campus Buildings web page includes a specific link for each building on campus. These links can be copied and pasted to provide a specific map link for each individual building.

Looking to the future, the Spatial Institute is interested in feedback, edits and suggestions for other ways the map could be expanded or incorporated into other university web sites.
