'The Jungle Book' begins three-day run on campus Friday

“The Jungle Book,” adapted directly from the British Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling’s 1894 collection of stories, begins its three-day run Friday, Aug. 5, in the Performing Arts Center Mainstage Theater on the Western Washington University campus.

The production is a collaboration of Western's Department of Theatre and Dance and the Summer Youth Theatre Institute. Directed by Deb Currier, the production combines traditional Indian dance, music and story telling with fantasy costumes, integrated puppetry, special effects and beautiful scenery.

Cast members range in age from 5 to 30.

“The Jungle Book” will show at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5 and 6, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7. All performances will be held in Western’s PAC Mainstage Theater.
