Geologist to Discuss Noah's Flood, Geology and Creationism at Western Feb. 26

David R. Montgomery will give a lecture on his book, “The Rocks Don’t Lie: A Geologist Investigates Noah’s Flood” at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in Western’s Academic West building room 204.

This presentation is free and open to the public, and there will be a book signing after the lecture. While in Tibet, geologist Montgomery heard a local story that had a strong resemblance to the Bible’s telling of the flood for which Noah built his ark. He began investigating the world’s flood stories and discovered the counterintuitive role Noah’s flood played in the development of both geology and creationism.

Montgomery received a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a professor of Geomorphology in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington. His numerous articles have appeared in such journals as Science, Nature and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA.
