Center for Service Learning presents Alternative Spring Break
The Center for Service-Learning is hosting Alternative Spring Break, an engaged learning series that aims to connect the students, staff, and faculty on Western’s campus with our neighbors who also share a home on the Salish Sea.
Throughout the week, we offer opportunities to discover and honor the diversity and depth of community life in our region. Participants can register for just one, some, or all activities depending on what suits their interests and schedule. We’re covering the costs for all of the activities, so they’re completely free to attend. These activities are open to students, staff, faculty, and community members.
The week's activities include:
- Monday, March 26: Trip to Vancouver/University of British Columbia
- Tuesday, March 27: Civic Engagement & Letter-Writing Workshop at the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center and Gather Round: True Stories Told Live at Honey Mood Mead & Cider
- Wednesday, March 28: Good Time Girls Historical Tour at Maritime Heritage Park and Coffee and Blues Volunteer Work Party at the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center
- Thursday, March 29: Hiking & Stewardship with Shifting Gears at Fairhaven Park and Larrabee State Park
- Friday, March 30: People of the Sea and Cedar Exhibit Tour at the Whatcom Museum - Lightcatcher and a Community Gathering at the Brandywine Kitchen (no-host food and drink)
