Campus eateries to get improvements under Aramark deal

Under terms of the contract Western Washington University recently signed with Aramark, the food service vendor will update and make improvements in the Viking Union, Ridgeway Commons, the Haven (in Stack One of the Fairhaven Complex) and the Atrium (in Arntzen Hall). Additionally, the Atrium will expand into the former Map Library space in Arntzen Hall after the Map Library is relocated to Wilson Library. In all four facilities, any new equipment will be more efficient and interior finishes will be upgraded.

Construction in most areas will start Aug. 1 and is scheduled to be complete by mid-September. All of these areas will be closed to the public during renovation. Noise will be generated by all of the work; dust will be controlled and limited to the immediate area of the construction. Material storage will be limited to the immediate area as well; no offices are being impacted, and disruption to pedestrians should be minimal.

Vehicle and bicycle traffic on nearby roads and pathways may be affected from time to time. Power outages and interruptions to domestic water for brief periods of time may occur in and around the construction areas. Parking areas near the construction areas will be impacted from time to time.
