Banff Mountain Film Festival to show in Bellingham

The Associated Students Productions Films will play host to the annual Banff Mountain Film Festival at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Mount Baker Theatre.

Tickets are on sale at the Western box office and the Mount Baker Theatre box office for $7 for students with ID and $10 for general admission.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is a touring film festival from the Banff Centre in Canada. There will be door prizes including an excursion from the Associated Students Outdoor Center and a course on alpinism from the American Alpine Institute.

The films have themes like mountaineering, skiing, kayaking and base jumping, and range from short films to feature films, all selected by tour host Jeremy Smith, Associated Students Productions Films coordinator.

The film festival has been popular in the past, Smith said. “I would imagine it has to do with the incredible films people submit. These people are doing things that many people will never do in their lives, and it is thrilling to watch.”
