Two WWU students present at undergraduate research symposium at CWU

Western Washington University students Daniel Moser (will graduate with a degree in Chemistry in spring 2010) and Geoff Melly (Biology/Anthropology, fall 2010) and faculty member Gregory O'Neil (Chemistry) attended the American Chemical Society Puget Sound Section Undergraduate Research Symposium at Central Washington University. Moser gave an oral presentation titled "A Metathesis Approach to Polyene Subunits," detailing an extension of work that was recently published the journal "Tetrahedron Letters" titled "A Metathesis Approach to 1,6- and 1,7-Dienes." Melly presented a poster titled "Toward the Total Synthesis of Archazolid A," describing continued efforts toward the synthesis of this potent anti-cancer natural product that was recently published in the journal Synlett, titled "A Synthesis of the C3-C15 Fragment of the Archazolids."
