Carmen Werder works with Western students to present at conference

Carmen Werder, director of the Teaching-Learning Academy and Writing Instruction Support at Western Washington University, joined WWU students Francesca Leaf (graduate student, Anthropology), Connor Powell (undergraduate, Special Education) and Michael Murphy (graduate student, Adult & Continuing Education) in doing an invited presentation and facilitating a faculty workshop at Douglas College in New Westminister, British Columbia, March 28.

The WWU team was invited to present on the work of the Teaching-Learning Academy and on other Western research initiatives that involve students, such as the Writing Research studies that Francesca is conducting with her faculty partner, Anthropology's Kathleen Young. Other Writing Research student fellows Misa Haring (with faculty partner Korry Harvey, of the Communication Department) and Rachelle Redd (with faculty partner Diana Jones of Human Services and Rehabilitation) will present their studies on May 17 during Scholars Week.
