Christopher Wise invited to speak at international studies conference in Georgia

Christopher Wise (English) was invited to speak as Distinguished Guest Lecturer for the 2010-2011 International Studies Lecture Series at Albany State University in Albany, Ga., Jan. 24 and 25.

Albany State University, which is one of the oldest historically black universities in the United States, has titled its lecture series “Internationalizing Our Campus, Curriculum and Community with Focus on Africa and the Caribbean.” The lecture series is funded by a Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language grant.

Wise gave two talks, “The African Trace: Decolonizing African Concepts of the Word,” and “Treasures From Timbuktu: The Promise of the Askiyas.” He also performed consultant work on behalf of Albany State University.
