Erb wins journalism award for advancing government access

George Erb, a lecturer in the WWU Journalism Department, was honored by the Washington Coalition for Open Government with the Andersen Award on Sept. 18. The award is named for former state Supreme Court Justice James Andersen and goes to individuals or organizations whose outstanding efforts have significantly advanced the work of WCOG and access to government.

“George has given thousands of hours of service to the cause of government transparency and accountability,” said Toby Nixon, WCOG president, in a press release. “His work as liaison to the Society of Professional Journalists, and most recently his taking the lead to manage WCOG’s social media presence, have raised our profile among the news community and driven awareness of our mission to a new level. We’re grateful for his continuing service.”
