Discussion on business exporting to take place Oct. 28 at SBDC

Western Washington University’s Small Business Development Center will hold a round-table discussion on taking advantage of increased exports out of the United States from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the WWU SBDC Conference Room at 115 Unity St. #101, Bellingham.

Sharon Sappington, Washington Small Business Development Centers trade specialist from Seattle Export Center, will be available for free consultation. The round table discussion is free and open to the public.

Exports of goods and services over the last 12 months are 46.6 percent above the level of exports in 2009, and these high numbers show that exports stamped “made in America” are sought after for their quality, reliability, and innovation. The highest mark for any month ever recorded was in July 2014. The discussion will feature ideas and ways for businesses to tap into these opportunities.

Western’s SBDC is part of the most comprehensive small-business alliance in the United States, with more than 1,000 active SBDC programs across the country. It receives support from the United States Small Business Administration, Whatcom County, Port of Bellingham, and City of Bellingham. Since 1983, Western’s SBDC has given back to the business community and helped shape the economic future of Whatcom County by providing free, confidential advising, technical assistance, and research to business owners and managers in an effort to help businesses thrive.
