Workshop for Faculty and Staff: Accessible by Design
Principles of universal design can be applied to course design and delivery of instruction in ways that increase access and inclusion for many students and reduce the need for individual accommodations. In this session, Disability Access Center (DAC) staff will outline the foundational principles of universal design for learning (UDL) and support faculty and staff in identifying ways their courses can be proactively designed to achieve greater accessibility. Workshop participants are encouraged to bring one of their syllabi or an outline for a particular class unit or program in which they would like to apply UDL principles.

Workshop for Faculty: Implementing Disability Accommodations
Join the Disability Access Center (DAC) for this overview of some of the most common disability accommodations and in-depth discussion about how faculty can implement these accommodations in different class environments. Faculty are also encouraged to check out the resources in the DAC’s online accommodations guide.

Workshop for Faculty and Staff: Meeting Diverse Minds -- Practical Approaches to Teaching Neurodivergent Students
“Neurodivergence” is an umbrella term encompassing conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, OCD, trauma, and social anxiety. In this workshop, Disability Access Center (DAC) staff will provide faculty and staff with a basic understanding of neurodivergence and impacts of neurodivergence on students’ learning and participation in the classroom. The session will offer practical strategies for effectively teaching and creating inclusive learning environments for neurodivergent students.
