WWU welcomes international students to campus with Tuesday party

The Center for International Studies at Western Washington University plans to throw a shindig Tuesday to welcome international students to campus.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Those planning to attend should RSVP via e-mail to cis@wwu.edu.

The Center for International Studies is an umbrella for international education at Western. Its mission is to foster international and global perspectives for all Western students through courses, international experiences on campus and study abroad.

The center coordinates the activities of six international education units on campus and oversees the minor in international studies. It also sponsors lectures and presentations on topical global issues and concerns, provides outreach to national and international organizations and universities and assists Western faculty members in developing new international teaching, learning and research opportunities.
