Construction update: Nash and the PAC

A number of projects are under construction this summer. Here, we take a look at two: The repairs being made to the roof of the Performing Arts Center and the renovations being done in Nash Hall.

Performing Arts Center Roofing Repairs

The Performing Arts Center roof repairs have been completed ahead of schedule. The replacement of these roofs, installation and flashings above the music library (Roofs 15, 16 and 17) will help extend the life of the building and serve as better protection against water damages. The new roof is thermoplastic polyolefin, or TPO.

A punch list walk, which is an overview of the list of tasks in the final phases of construction that need to be completed to satisfy the terms of a construction contract, will take place on Friday, July 24. The project was scheduled to be finished in September.

This past year, the PAC also went through exterior renovations that included the cleaning of the exterior sides of the building, repairing the stucco damage and cracks, repairing and re-pointing the bricks, roof drainage system repairs, etc.

Residence Hall Renovations

The Nash Hall Renovations Phase II remains on schedule to be finished by Sept. 4. This project will include the installation of additional automatic fire alarms, sprinkler systems, repaired roofing, electrical and plumbing updates to bring the building into compliance with the local, state and federal codes. Nash Hall will not be occupied during construction and will be fenced off.

This past summer, phase I of the Nash Hall Renovations took place. These renovations included the removal and storage of all hall furniture and its reinstallation, selective demolition, new residence room wardrobes, the conversion of the two residence rooms to meet ADA standards, new windows to enclose a stairwell, selected light fixture replacement, etc.

Currently, there are no plans for additional work on Nash Hall once phase II has been completed.
