'College Quest' prep program for high school students will happen again this summer

High school students from across the country will visit Western Washington University this summer at the university's annual College Quest comprehensive college preparatory program. The event is set for  July 15 to 20, and enrollment is now open.

College Quest bridges the gap between high school and college and puts students on a path to personal, educational and career success. During the week-long program, high school student entering grades 10-12 receive a full college experience, including living in a college dorm on Western’s beautiful campus.

College Quest provides students an opportunity to form extraordinary social connections, offers insight into the college admissions process, and assists in strengthening participants’ college application portfolios. Participants will complete a college course taught by Western faculty and earn a university credit during the program.

Two new course topics are being offered this year:

  • Multicultural Analysis of Children’s Literature explores cultural diversity for the classroom through children’s literature and is ideal for those pursuing a career in education.
  • Writing for the Stage allows students to gain skills in college-level writing, reviewing, and critiquing while discovering the forms and conventions of theatre writing.
  • Other course topics include Behavioral Neuroscience, Environmental Science and Sustainability, Film/Video Production, and Renewable Energy.
