Campus Advisory: Attempted armed robbery near campus Friday

The Bellingham Police responded to an attempted armed robbery at roughly 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, near the Sehome Haggen. The area was searched with negative results.

The suspect was described as an Asian male in his mid-20s, wearing a black hooded coat with dark pants. The victim was not injured and the suspect fled when she screamed.

The Bellingham Police stated that it is “more than likely” that this may be one of the same suspects from the two robbery incidents near campus on Nov. 8.

The suspect appears to be singling out people who are alone and in somewhat isolated areas.

Please exercise caution. Do not travel alone, if at all possible. Stay in well-traveled and well-lighted areas. Be aware of your surroundings and know where the campus emergency phones are located. If you must travel alone after dark, use WTA, the Student Shuttle, or call for a walking safety escort from the “Green Coats” at (360) 650-3555.

Contact University Police at (360) 650-3911 immediately if you see suspicious persons or activities on or near the WWU campus.
