BRAVE Program to hold depression screening day Jan. 12

Winter quarter got you down? The winter blues could lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, a disorder that affects many people, especially in the fall and winter months. SAD is characterized by changes in mood, level of energy, sleeping patterns and appetite.

The Western Washington University Counseling Center, Associated Students Disability Outreach and the BRAVE program for are holding a depression and SAD screening day to provide students with resources to beat the blues.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room, will include:

  • Relaxation stations featuring therapy dogs and calming, therapeutic activities
  • SAD screening stations
  • Campus and community mental health resource stations
  • Free snacks
  • A raffle for several SAD lamps

This event is free and open to the WWU community.
