WWU Human Services Student Shares Experience
Dana Marklund Tharaldsen recently shared with us what her experience in pursuing a Human Services degree online with Western Washington University has been like. Here is what she had to say:
Q: When do you expect to graduate?
A: June 2018.
Q: What was the deciding factor that led you to choose Western?
A: I had heard many good things from Western graduates. And the fact that the human services program is so broad that it covered all my interests and goals for the future!
Q: Has there been a professor who has stood out to you? If yes, how has that professor shaped your experience at Western?
A: Oh gosh, I don’t think I can pick one. I will say that I feel that all of my professors have gone above and beyond for me as a student when it comes to support, communication and pushing me to grow as a student and human being.
Q: What types of obstacles have you encountered? Do you have any tips for students considering a similar degree?
A: Any obstacles would be my personal choice of procrastination at times. My tips would be to set yourself up for success by making sure you have the supplies, books before each quarter starts and a plan as in a weekly studying schedule that you follow.
Q: What have been some of your most rewarding moments while in the program?
A: Believe it or not, even with this distance [online] learning program I’d say feeling supported by both professors and fellow students.
Q: Do you have any additional comments?
A: I recommend this university! I also recommend the human services program!
