Western on the Peninsulas Introduces Student Success Specialist

Western Washington University is dedicated to the success of current and future students. Heather Hutchins is the Student Success Specialist for Western Washington University on the Peninsulas (WotP) degree programs. Her mission is to guide students on degree offerings and available resources that help students reach their academic goals. Before joining Western, Heather was employed at Olympic College as a program supervisor for the Veteran Services Office. Her experience at Olympic College gives her unique insights into the community college transfer process and helps her to assist students in a seamless transition into a university.

How often are the classes?

Most programs offer classes between two and three times per week.

 

How long does it take to complete the program?

Most degree programs can be completed in under 8 quarters when transferring into Western with an Associate (DTA-Direct Transfer Agreement) from a Washington State community college or equivalent Associate degree.

 

What types of student services do Western on the Peninsulas students have access to?

Students attending WotP programs in Poulsbo have access to the tutoring services provided by Olympic College.  Students also have access to a Student Success Specialist who can assist them in a variety of ways during their time at Western. 

 

Why would a student choose Western on the Peninsulas?

There are many reasons that a student might choose to attend Western on the Peninsulas -small class sizes, proximity to home, military friendly, cost effective, etc.

 

How much are the classes?

Costs per credit vary by location and program. Please review the current tuition and fee schedule on the Student Business Office’s website

 

Is financial aid available?

Western has a dedicated financial aid office which can give guidance on available grants, scholarships, student employment, loans, or some combination of aid programs.  For more information contact the
