Biology Department to present guest seminars in Feb.

A couple of Biology Department seminars will take place on campus in the first few weeks of February.

In a talk co-sponsored by the Biodiversity Initiative, Jason Irwin, an assistant professor in the Biological Sciences Department at Central Washington University, will present “Being a good host: The influence of plant host on energetics and distribution of the goldenrod gall fly, Eurosta solidaginis (Tephritidae)” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in Biology Building Room 234.

And at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, also in Biology Building Room 234, Simon Chen, a Ph.D. candidate at the Brain Research Center at the University of British Columbia, will present “Sensory experience sculpts brain neuron structure in developing brains.”

These seminars are free and open to the public.
