Bellingham mayoral candidates to take part in AS debate

The two remaining candidates for mayor of Bellingham (Dan Pike and Kelli Linville) will debate the issues and work to win votes in a debate held by the Associated Students of Western Washington University from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the Performing Arts Center Mainstage Theater.

The event, sponsored by the AS office of Representation and Engagement Programs, will be moderated by state Rep. Kristine Lytton (D-40th) and Mario Orallo-Molinaro, the AS vice president for activities. The debate will feature three segments: a round of prepared questions asked by the moderators, a round of questions asked by each candidate of the other candidate directly, and a round of audience questions.

Western's campus is accessible by the Blue Line bus lines from the downtown Bellingham bus terminal. Paid parking will be available on campus for those attending the event. In addition, a free bike valet service will be provided to attendees, courtesy of the Associated Students' office of Environmental and Sustainability Programs.
