Avoid putting broken glass in the garbage

Preparations and cleanup for the new school year can be hectic. Environmental Health and Safety would like to remind everyone to take a moment to consider what is being placed in the trash.

A university custodian narrowly escaped serious injury in a recent incident. The bag she was lifting burst because of large chunks of glass that had been thrown in with other trash.

EHS would like to remind the campus community that broken glass should never be placed in the trash without first being put securely within another container such as a cardboard box.

Better yet: Recycle it.
