Author to share on leadership, adversity and transnational experiences

Author Seconde Nimenya will share life lessons from her book "Evolving through Adversity (A Leadership Roadmap to Embracing Change)" during several events Monday and Tuesday, April 18 and 19, on Western Washington University's Bellingham campus.

The main event is a late afternoon lecture slated for 5 p.m. Monday in Communications Facility Room 115. Nimenya will share lessons from her transnational experience (Burundi, Canada, U.S.) and will guide attendees in their own exploration of how adverse experiences might have informed or can inform their lives' purposes and missions. A book table and light refreshments will be available at this event.

Other events:

• At noon on noon Monday in VU 567, Seconde Nimenya will lead a lunch discussion titled "Resilience and You" for student leaders and staff from Student Outreach Services, the Ethnic Student Center and LEADS.
• At 2 p.m. on Monday in VU 565C, a conversation about women and leadership featuring Nimenya will be open to all at Western and in the community. Coffee and tea will be provided.
• At 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday in VU 462, Nimenya will lead a breakfast discussion titled "The Power of Your Journey: Immigrants, Refugees & Transnational Experience" for WWU students, faculty and staff who are immigrants, refugees or who have transnational lives/families.
• At noon on Tuesday in the Associated Students Bookstore, there'll be an opportunity to purchase Seconde Nimenya's books.
