Author Gary Geddes to discuss his work Jan. 30

Author Gary Geddes will read from and discuss his book "Drink the Bitter Root: A writer's search for justice & healing in Africa" at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, in Wilson Library Room 164.

Geddes' book is is based on his trauma and human rights interviews with victims of violence in Rwanda, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia and Somaliland. THe book has been hailed as "a deeply textured journey without maps into the unexplored rifts of sub-Saharan Africa, the human experience, and the psyche."

The presentation is sponsored by the Center for Canadian-American Studies and co-sponsored by the WWU Political Science Department, Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies and The Western Libraries.
