Ask! Program volunteers available to help mentor students

Almost 700 Western Washington University alumni from 46 states and 11 countries have signed up to help Western faculty, staff and students through Western’s Ask! program.

These alumni can:

  • Come to a class or organization to speak
  • Act as virtual mentors for students
  • Provide job shadow and internship experience for students
  • Share valuable knowledge they’ve gained since graduating from Western
  • Relate to students

In the past three years:

  • Students have made more than 13,300 website searches seeking to connect with alumni
  • More than 300 alumni have served as virtual mentors for specific classes at Western
  • Every college and more than 100 majors have been represented by Ask! Mentors

These mentors want to serve their alma mater, and they have the experience and knowledge to help students succeed. Faculty and staff may log in today to start searching the database of Western’s great alumni mentors. Those who would like the Alumni Association to help find mentors to speak in classrooms or organizations should contact Lizzi Jackson at ask@wwu.edu.

The Alumni Association also is giving away Snuggies to any students who give them a testimonial about their experience with Ask. To win, the students must have kept in contact with their mentor and be willing to share what they learned through the program. Fifty Snuggies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
