Students spent more than 84,000 service-learning hours in 2015-16
Western's faculty incorporated service-learning into 204 courses in 2015-16, according to data gathered by the Center for Service-Learning.
The courses included a total of 4,182 students, who spent 84,168 hours applying their skills in projects with 180 community partners.
Other 2015-16 highlights from CSL include:
- Viking Launch Day of Service included 95 first-year students and eight group leaders volunteering with eight community partner organizations.
- The Service Leaders program drew 21 participants for workshops and volunteer events, peer leadership opportunities and classes. The group partnered with 16 community organizations and launched Western's second annual Kindness Campaign to promote empathy.
- The Center for Service-Learning managed the Community Fund Drive and increased donors and donations over the previous year
