Western's International Student and Scholar Services organized a series of cooking classes in Downtown Bellingham during the 2014-15 academic year.

The classes were led by volunteers -- students, faculty or staff -- who taught participants how to prepare a dish from their country or culture, or from a country they had lived in.

The center offered two to three classes each quarter, touching on countries such as China, Ghana, France, Japan, Pakistan and Korea as well as a class in Hawaiian cuisine. The classes, open to all members of the Western community, cost $5 and typically sold out.
