More students seek help at the Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising Center continues to experience an increase in student advising. Spring 2016 saw an increase of 9 percent in student advising visits compared with spring 2015 and an 18 percent increase in winter 2016 compared with the previous year.
The AAC attributes 2015-16 advising growth to:
- An increase in adviser capacity to provide more student advising.
- Adjustments to staffing levels for walk-in advising during peak times of the quarter.
- Increased outreach to invite students to meet with advisers to discuss topics of academic planning, major exploration and declaration, academic standing and success planning, etc.
The AAC anticipates further growth in the 2016-17 academic year and is prepared with the hire of an additional full time academic/career advisor and a part-time adviser to assist during peak advising and orientation times .
