Men's Indoor Track and Field 2015-16

Two school records and 24 top 10 entries highlighted the season…finished 3rd at the GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Jacksons Indoor Complex at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho…was just one point back of 2nd-place Western Oregon with 92 points…NCAA II provisional qualifying marks were reached by nine athletes…Mark Seely set the school record in the Triple Jump (14.41m/47-3.5) and Brandon Pless set the WWU mark in the Weight Throw (17.53m/57-6.25)…Travis Milbrandt won the 60m Hurdles at the GNAC Championships for the second straight year in a time of 8.09, becoming the second athlete to win back-to-back titles in the 60m hurdles, joining Robert Edwards (CWU) in 2006-07…Milbrandt competed at the NCAA II Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas and finished 14th (8.22)…six athletes were named GNAC All-Stars for placing in the top three at the conference meet: Milbrandt (60m Hurdles, 1st), J.T. Konrad (Pole Vault, 2nd), Gordie Kordas (Pole Vault, 3rd), Pless (Shot Put, 3rd), Seely (Triple Jump, 2nd) and Nate van Tuinen (Long Jump, 2nd)…eight athletes earned USTFCAAA All-West Region honors, ranking in the top 5 in the region in their event: Isaac Derline (5,000m), Jacob Hino (Pole Vault), Bryan Lee (Weight Throw), Konrad (Pole Vault), Kordas (Pole Vault), Milbrandt (60m Hurdles), Pless (Shot Put & Weight Throw) and Seely (Triple Jump)…Daniel Jones was named the GNAC Freshman of the Year placing 6th in the 200m at the GNAC Championships and ran a leg of the 4th-place 4x400 relay team…Milbrandt was named the GNAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Feb. 1-7…WWU’s three pole vaulters were each ranked in the top 50 in the nation and earned All-West Region honors: Konrad (28th, 4.81m/15-9.25), Kordas (40th, 4.73m/15-6.25), Hino (49th, 4.66m/15-3.5)…junior Ryan McArthur logged the 4th-fastest time in the 400m (49.64) at the UW Indoor Preview…Derline logged the 2nd-fastest time in the 5,000m (14:39.22) at the UW Invitational…Pless (17.53m/57-6.25) and Lee (17.22m/56-6) recorded two of the top three Weight Throw marks in school history…entries into the GNAC Indoor record book included Konrad (Pole Vault, 8th), Seely (Triple Jump, 8th) and Pless (Shot Put, 7th & Weight Throw, 10th).
