Education Matinee Series brings thousands of school kids to campus for performing arts

Now in its eighth season, the Education Matinee Series brings the arts to life for children in grades K-12 through free matinee performances held on Western's campus. Our matinee performances feature WWU students enrolled in music, theatre and dance disciplines, as well as professional artists.

Performances in 2012-13 included:

Jovon Miller featuring The Julian MacDonough Jazz Trio. Miller is a tap dancer who received Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Heineken USA Performing Arts Award for 2009-2010.

Trash Fashion Show, presented in collaboration with Western’s Industrial Design students; the show is designed to educate audiences about sustainability.

“Cinderella (Cendrillon).” Western’s opera presents a fairy tale with French opera – Jules Massenet.

Dance Concert featuring students from Western’s Dance Program, highlighting a variety of dance techniques.

Band Pops! Featuring students from Western’s Music Department showcasing a variety of work including classic pop and video game music.
