CBE speaker series brings executives to campus to discuss ethics and social responsibility
The College of Business and Economics' Ethics and Social Responsibility Executive Speaker Series brings to campus senior business leaders to interact with students and share their perspectives on the role of business ethics and social responsibility.
These lectures link the academic with the practical Students learn about real ethical dilemmas and how organizational leaders attempt to create environments with high moral standards, as well as social responsibility and how organizational leaders incorporate such considerations into business decisions.
Business executives who participated in the 2014-15 Speaker Series included:
Anthony George, president and chief operating officer of Kitsap Bank and WWU alumnus, on "Creating a 'Sustainable' Sustainability Culture."
Howard Sharfstein, associate general counsel for Kimberly-Clark Corp, on "The Forest for the Trees: One Company's Journey to Develop Sustainable Fiber Sources."
Brian Johnson, founding member of Filament LLC, on his experiences with ethical questions, particularly in the financial sector.
