Annual Welcoming Convocation and fireworks show set for Sept. 24

Western Washington University will host the annual Welcoming Convocation and fireworks show Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. on Western's Old Main lawn.

Welcoming Convocation, one of Western's most meaningful traditions, will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the Performing Arts Center Mainstage. The event will include remarks by WWU President Bruce Shepard, Professor Thor Hansen, Associated Students President Carly Roberts, and a special address by Eileen Coughlin, vice president for Enrollment and Student Services. WWU staff, faculty and current students will line the campus walkways and welcome new students to the Western and Bellingham communities.

The fireworks show, which is intended to be a "quiet show," will take place from 8-8:20 p.m.

Members of the community are invited to join WWU in this annual event. Contact the New Student Services/Family Outreach for more information or if you are interested in attending at (360) 650-3846.
