Adam Leonard to Take Over July 1 as New Director of Campus Recreation Services

Adam Leonard has been named the new Campus Recreation Services (CRS) director at Western and will assume his new post on July 1.

Leonard moves into a position vacated by Marie Sather, who is retiring this spring after 32 years at Western; Leonard has been the associate director at CRS since 2007.

“I’m ecstatic to be moving into this position. I’ve learned so much from Marie during my tenure as associate director, and I just can’t wait to get started,” Leonard said.

The director of CRS oversees the programs, services, facilities and fiscal responsibilities of the department, and assists in strategic planning in the Division of Enrollment and Student Services.

“I’m so excited that Adam chose to pursue this, and got the job,” said Sather. “He’s an amazing student mentor with a great budget sense – but most importantly, he someone who absolutely celebrates inclusion and diversity and brings that passion into the office every day.”

Before coming to Western, Leonard held similar positions at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, and was the director of Athletics and Physical Education at the Westmark School in Los Angeles, California. Leonard received his bachelor’s degree in Natural Science/Biology from the University of Puget Sound in 1999 and his master’s degree in Physical Education from Idaho State University in 2000.
