Academy for Lifelong Learning Announces New Program Offerings for Fall and Winter 2022-23

Western Washington University’s Academy for Lifelong Learning (ALL) has unveiled its fall and winter 2022-23 offerings. The program line-up kicks off on Sept. 10 and runs until Feb. 17. Courses, talks and excursions covering a wide variety of topics are available via both in-person and online formats. A Zoom FAQ section is available on the ALL website, designed to teach the basics of installing and using Zoom to participate in ALL online talks and courses.

Courses are short, university-level and include a diverse selection of educational and cultural programs. Registration is available online. Cost per class varies depending on membership, length, venue and content, but all courses range from $24 to $120.

Academy for Lifelong Learning hosts monthly one-hour presentations via Zoom. These ALL Talks are a potpourri of interesting topics, presented by exciting and knowledgeable local experts. The first ALL Talk is on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. PST covering Peruvian and Panamanian explorations. The ALL Talks are free to attend for all community members, although pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link.

Additionally, ALL is coordinating two excursions in the month of September. Register by Aug. 28 to sign up for a three-day excursion departing Friday, Sept. 30, and returning on Sunday, Oct. 2, to see the state capitol, Lewis and Clark sites, the Columbia River Maritime Museum and Mt. St. Helens. Register by Aug. 31 to join the Bard on the Beach excursion on Saturday, Sept. 10, to visit Vancouver's Granville Island and watch "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" in Vanier Park.

ALL programs are open to all interested adults, regardless of age or educational background. Participants are encouraged to register early, as courses fill quickly. Membership is recommended to receive discounts and benefits but not required to register for ALL programs. A full year membership costs $49. Members enjoy benefits such as 10% discounts at Village Books and access to Western Washington University facilities including the library, Wade King Student Recreation Center and Lakewood boathouse.

ALL is hosted and administered by Western and is member-driven and supported by membership dues and program fees. All content is produced by member-volunteers, who devise courses, excursions and other programs, recruit instructors and plan events. Policy is set by a Board of Directors elected from the membership. For more information and a complete list of courses, visit wwu.edu/ALL.
