Abstracts sought for the 2023 Salmon Recovery Conference

WWU is coordinating the 2023 Salmon Recovery Conference on April 18 and 19, 2023 in Vancouver, Washington, and event organizers are calling for abstracts through Oct. 28.

The theme of this year’s conference is "A Shared Future," which reflects the desire to hear broad community perspectives with regards to salmon recovery. You have until Oct. 28 to submit your abstract.

Abstract Guidance

Consider the following when crafting your abstracts:

  • What kinds of innovations are you using in partnerships, projects, communications, coordination, community involvement, funding, etc.?

  • How do you integrate salmon recovery with economic, cultural, agricultural, health, commercial fishing, and comprehensive plan pressures?

  • What does "A Shared Future” mean to you and your community with regards to future salmon recovery efforts?

  • What is the economic benefit of ecosystem-based function and salmon recovery, and to what communities?

  • How does your work reflect DEIJ? The Salmon Recovery Conference organizers value diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) and are elevating the role and awareness of DEIJ principles and best practices and integrating them throughout the conference’s planning and implementation.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts should provide a brief overview of the approach and key findings to be presented at the conference.

  • Abstracts should include enough detail to allow proposal reviewers to fully understand the intent and content of the presentation, lightning talk, or poster.

  • Abstract length is limited to 2,000 characters (500 words).

  • Spell out all acronyms and abbreviations the first time they are used in your abstract.

  • If accepted, the abstract will be included in the online conference program, so it should be engaging and easy to understand by a general audience.
